Converse: Jack Purcell Signature Hi

Press Release:

Boston, MASS. (January 12, 2016) Today, CONVERSE, Inc. announces its fourth collaboration with Hancock Vulcanised Articles, introducing the all-new Converse Jack Purcell Signature Hi sneaker. Using subtle colors and graphic juxtaposition as the main inspirations, this release also signifies the first time Hancock DNA has been incorporated into the premium Converse Jack Purcell Signature silhouette.

The latest issue from a partnership ingrained in modern design and craftsmanship, the new hi-top sneaker is enhanced with a vulcanized, water-repellent canvas upper and cured rubber heel stay in Hancock’s signature Mastic Grey. Added comfort elements include an OrthoLite footbed enhanced with Nike Zoom Air technology that is typical in all Jack Purcell Signature products.

Available in three complementary colorways – Autumn, Taupe and Black – the latter featuring Hancock’s striking Siphonia Elastica rubber plant print, and each sneaker is completed with a contrasting top eyelet detail with interchangeable laces.

Hancock Vulcanised Articles is a modern luxury lifestyle label that offers contemporary rubber bonded outerwear, crafted using original techniques that date back to the 19th century. All pieces are hand-cut with shears, and seams are bonded manually with a secret traditional glue recipe. Founded in 2012 by Daniel Dunko and Gary Bott, the brand draws inspiration from Thomas Hancock; the British inventor who sparked a rubber revolution and pioneered waterproofing techniques for fabrics that are still used to this day. All articles are handmade by two generations of expert coat makers at their factory in Scotland.

Converse First String is a limited-edition collection that celebrates craftsmanship, authenticity and collaboration at the highest level. The Converse Jack Purcell Signature Hi x Hancock sneaker collection will be available in limited quantities, beginning on Friday, January 15, 2016 at Converse stores, online at and at select First String retailers across the United States, Europe and Asia.
