stndrd Style: Essential Fall Items

fall essenials

It’s that magical time of the year when the leaves change and so do our wardrobes. All summer long we endured the brutal heat and now we finally get a break from Mother Nature and we get to enjoy my favorite season. We will break down five essentials you need to kick off your fall wardrobe.

fishtail paraka

Fishtail Parka

Even though fall is right around the corner, it’s still too early to break out the pea coat and camel hair overcoat. The next best option is the fishtail parka. Vintage military pieces never go out of style and the fishtail parka is definitely evidence of that. Created in 1951 the fishtail parka, also known as the “M-51,” was designed to keep soldiers warm while fighting in the Korean War. Known for its “tail” feature—the fishtail was actually designed so the tails could be tied around the legs in order to prevent cold from entering the garments. The great thing about the parka is it’s a light seasonal jacket that can be worn without making you sweat. It’s a great jacket with a baggy fit that leaves you with more than enough room for comfort and for layers.

Baseball Cap

If you haven’t noticed baseball caps are slowly moving off the fields and onto the streets. Aside from protecting you from the treacherous rays of the sun, while keeping your noggin warm, baseball caps are the perfect accessory to incorporate into your style. With the many style options we have available—the only problem you’re going to have is what brand to choose.

stan smith

White Sneakers

We know it may be illegal to wear white after Labor Day but we frankly don’t give a dam. When it comes to white sneakers the Stan Smith from Adidas is the number one choice without a doubt. Molded with a sock liner for all-day comfort and with a full-length EVA midsole for lightweight cushioning. The legendary court shoe is finished with the signature Stan Smith logo on the tongue. Don’t be afraid to get these babies dirty either—a little dirt adds character.

plaid flannel

Plaid Flannels

How else will we know that it’s fall out without plaid flannels? The perfect fall piece for the cool days and chilly nights the plaid flannel goes with anything. For a casual look you can match the flannel with some light chinos and sneakers. For a rugged look you can pair it with jeans and work boots. You can even layer it under a jacket or hoodie—the options are truly endless.

chio pants

Colorful Pants

It’s easy to overlook what’s below the waist when so much attention is focused on fall tops and accessories. You’ll be surprised how much the right pair of pants can upgrade your overall look. When it comes to pants for the fall you can never go wrong with slim fit khakis or corduroys. Both pants are office appropriate and happy hour friendly. They also provide the same level of comfort as your weekend jeans. This fall use the cool weather as an excuse to spice up your trousers with some bold fall colors.

Well, there you have it—those are your fall essentials that will get you ready for the season. With football back in effect, new fall flavors from Starbucks, and with your favorite TV shows back on the air—what’s not to love about fall? This guide will have you fall ready.
