Pretty Poison’s Favorite Coasters: Part 1

To celebrate summer, I wanted to list ten of my favorite coasters from across the country! It’s that time of the year where a road trip with friends to a local amusement park is an absolute must!

I have been lucky enough to have visited a lot of different places, and I usually make it a point to stop at different parks to check out what they have to offer. Two summers ago I landed a spot on Coaster Wars, and I rode the Millenium Force over and over, before 8am to film the show. travel-2

Many of the coasters on this list are record breakers and not for the faint of heart. Some are personal picks selected for their element of fun. If you get to hit any of these parks, these are the rides worth waiting in line for!

These picks are in no particular order.

Goliath

Recently, Six Flags Great America located in Gurnee, Illinois debuted the world’s tallest, fastest and steepest wooden roller coaster. That record was previously held by other rides at Cedar Point and Kinds Island parks. Goliath blows all of those other rides out of the water! The incline of the first hill is a staggering 180 feet at 80 degrees and hits a top speed of 72 miles per hours. The design of this ride is pretty incredible using steel coaster techniques while keeping a wooden coaster look and feel. It has an intense looking loop and barrel roll. Be sure to check out the video and if you find yourself in or near Chicago this summer, be sure to go check out this ride!

Millenium Force

When it was first built in 2000—it broke 5 world records. Cedar Point is home to this world famous Giga Coaster that is known for smashing records. With a fast elevator lift system, you are at the top of the hill extremely fast, but the sheer height of the first hill still gives you a bit of time to enjoy the view. It’s a smooth ride and incredibly fast. It has been voted the number one steel roller coaster eight times in Amusement Today’s Golden Ticket Awards!
