Laura Vandervoort

Laura Vandervoort from Ted.

Actress Laura Vandervoort will appear with Mark Wahlberg in the comedy movie Ted this summer. The flaxen-haired knockout is best known for the television program, V, and also for playing Supergirl on the hit show Smallville.

So what can we expect from Ted this summer?

It’s about a man (Mark Wahlberg) who as a young boy wished his teddy bear would come to life. When the wish comes true, the bear becomes a celebrity. But, as the man and bear get older, they become washed up losers who just spend their days smoking pot. I play Tanya, a girl who works with Mark Wahlberg’s character in the film.

Laura VandervoortWhat was one of the best parts of working on the film?

Definitely working with Mark Wahlberg. I was very star-struck, but I tried to play it cool. Most of my scenes in the film are with him and I was pretty terrified. He was a childhood crush of mine. He was a really great guy, and I relaxed a lot after the first day on set.

Did you tell him about your crush?
No! I was trying to be as normal as possible. I have talked about it a few times now in interviews—he might figure it out. I doubt he will care either way. One of my favorite movies growing up was Fear, so for me, it was a big deal. It was neat to work with an actor from one of my favorite films.

What kind of things are you involved in away from the film sets?

I’m in love with photography; I picked it up two years ago. Photography is something I can do when I am traveling. I also love working out and being active. I’m into baking. I also do a lot of hibernating and I watch a lot of movies. I like to relax and see my friends. I’m not really into anything all that different.

Do you find anytime to date at all?

It’s tough for me, but it’s tough for anyone to date when you can’t be together because you’re traveling a lot. You have to find ways to communicate and find time for each other. It’s definitely a strenuous industry in regards to relationships. But, if you can find someone who understands what you do, it makes it much easier.

What is your ideal type of guy?

Well, definitely someone with a good heart. I like guys who are there for me and will motivate me to do my best when I need it. Definitely someone who is a good listener, someone you can vent to after a bad day. I want a person who will encourage me to do my best, without questioning why they are doing it. Just a good man!

Can you talk about some of your charity work? I know that’s important to you.

I just started working with an organization in California called, The Gentle Barn. They take in abused animals and nurse them back to health. They also help children who have had rough lives, or are handicapped in some way. They bring the animals and children together, and they heal each other. It’s a really great organization.
